???

thinking back, all these weird intersections between technological advancements and the world around me when i was young- visions of decaying farms and churches, beautiful fields constantly in flux, green then orange then grey, a history of protestant misery and illness and this huge focus on death, but everything felt so alive, too…

and at the same time i would see these same places in media- strange, crude technological recreations of pastoral universes, n64 games like quest or OOT or harvest moon had microscopic portrayals of these zones, but were incredibly detached from any real world and were surprisingly innocuous… green fields and barriers of forest, kids setting out on adventures, dreamy impossible microworlds that resembled my own, but were so vastly different.

i feel like it’s impossible to capture in words, but these places were defined from so many sources and angles, for me they are simultaneously dreadful and beautiful and mysterious. so many existences in one, all running together, impossible to ever fully explore…
